Cold Blooded and Warm Blooded animals
Cold Blooded
Cold Blooded do not regulate their internal body temperature they change their temperature to the change in outer environment's temperature.
The process to maintain the temperature is called thermal homeostasis.
The process of maintaining this temperature is called thermal homeostasis.
They need less energy for maintaining their body temperature,so they need less amount of food.
They produce resistivity against microorganisms invading their body for causing disease,if happens, they lower the effect of infection by decreasing the body's temperature.
Hibernation-
Resting stage at the time of winters which can be for weeks or months.
Aestivation
Resting stage at the time of summer.
The temperature of a body depends on the temperature of the external environment.
Metabolic rates changes with the change in environment's temperature.
Cold blooded are categorized in three types:
Ectothermy:
Body temperature is maintained according to the temperature of the external environment, it means if there is sunlight, they will maintain their temperature accordingly and at night that is at the time of moonlight, their body will change their internal temperature again and becomes cool.
Examples reptiles.
Poikilothermy:
The temperature of which fluctuate with the variation in temperature of the encompassing medium. Examples are frogs, turtles.
Bradymetabolism:
This type depends on the speed of metabolism, one’s body perform. An example is insect
Warm Blooded Animals
These aninals obtain their body heat from metabolic process.
They continuously produce internal heat. They have a large amount of fat. they maintain a high core temperature, due to it the the biochemical process and nervous system functions normally even at higher external temperature.
These animals can survive in those habitats where ectotherms can not live.
Endothermy:
Body maintains its temperature by an enclosed means like sweating, shivering, etc,An example could be a dog.
Homeothermy:
Body regulates its required internal temperature regardless of the external temperature, rather body tends to take care of the upper temperature than surrounding,An example is human.
Tachymetabolism:
High metabolism rate could be a result of temperature,an example is bird.
